What I am reading today.

I’m about half way through but I’m going to go for a walk and will finish when I return.

I’m enjoying it so far but I’m getting the feeling that it doesn’t end they way I hope it does.

It’s a simple read and I enjoy the descriptions of the wild life and the reverence the main character has for nature.

That is ominous. I was hoping this book ends positively but I guess I should change my expectations.

Yeah life got in the way.

Haha it’s fine, don’t feel bad. I think I’d rather know beforehand since the last two books were dystopian with bleak endings.

I’m almost done but I’m enjoying it. It almost has an innocence to it. It’s just an old fisherman struggling with a fish.

That’s what everyone seems to say. I’ve never read it, but from the outside it sounds like a really kinda pure story that you can imbue with extra meaning and emotion. Idk, I’ve never read it.

Also just remembered this SMBC comic about the size of the fish (spoiler b/c I don’t know how important this is to the plot):

        spoiler

cartoon of a page with several story ideas ending in "Old man tries to fit whole fish in boat, but FISH TOO BIG" triple underlined and with stars and arrows around it

        Link to comic here.

Please let us know what you think. One of my biggest insecurities is that I’ve never actually read any Hemmingway

I think you’re doing pretty well if that’s one of your top insecurities. I feel like I haven’t read 90% of what I “ought” to have haha

I like it so far. I tried reading another Hemingway a while back but I enjoy this book more. It’s simple but nice.
