Damn, really sounds like some sort of political party should have tried to capture voters interest instead of pushing the status quo that has been suffocating folks for their whole life.

This shit is so fucking lazy.

Biden enacted plenty of progressive asks during his term. Harris outlined plenty of progressive asks in her campaign as well.

Just because it wasn’t 100% of what YOU personally wanted doesn’t mean it wasn’t good legislation.

Hope none of your family dies because of this, because if they do it’s on you, mr protest voter.

Can I give you a pro life tip?

Let people wonder whether you’re dumb or not. Don’t prove to them that you are.

Biden was one of, if not the most progressive president, in our lifetimes. That is a FACT.

But of course you don’t know that.

The Democrats fumbled appealing to progressives, independents, and undecided voters.

By running on universal healthcare and taxing the rich? No, Republicans ran the most effective propaganda campaign in the history of this country (with the help of Russian disinformation) and it worked, because Americans are braindead stupid.

The percentage of people who don’t vote hasn’t changed much in 100 years. Call them lazy, uneducated, apathetic, etc, it makes no difference. They don’t vote and that’s all there is to be said about it. If you’re waiting around for them to start voting for your preferred candidate you’re going to be waiting for the rest of your life. Stop talking about them and start making other plans.

There is plenty of discussion how this last election people didn’t move rightwards, they moved couchwards. The absolute numbers voting for president went down substantially. I bet a good number of those were protest non voters.

And it swung the 2020 election. Biden still holds the record for the most votes of any president ever, Trump was number 2 for the most votes ever in that same election.

You cannot swing for the center and hope to flip some republicans. They vote on a single issue, and that issue is usually, “who will hurt the people I hate most”. They like to play it off as “Fiscally republican” or some other shit, but it’s all lies and falls apart if you pull on the threads of their reasoning.

They ran on universal healthcare and taxing the rich. Their sitting president was one of, if not the most, progressive president in our lifetimes with a strong economic recovery record. They even listened when their base told them Biden was too old and gave them a younger candidate.

Just admit that the dumbfucks that voted 3rd party or didn’t vote were single issue losers who couldn’t see the forest for the trees and now we have fascism in America.

Funny how Biden brought up price gouging but then never acted on it

Funny how they brought up corporations buying elections and then never acted on it.

Funny how they could have enshrined abortion or medicaid into law and decided not to because they couldn’t even get their own house together to vote for it because they’re all paid for by corporations and Israel.

Funny how they couldn’t do the basic moral thing and not finance fully a genocide.

Funny how they didnt reach across to any left leaning voters but instead paraded around a family of genocidaires. Funny how they kept leaping to the right instead of even trying to stay as a democratic party.

Funny how they’ve rigged their own elections since Obama in 08.

At no point did I say Republicans were not also backing genocide. Only that, maybe, just maybe, Democrats could have NOT done so, to give people an actual choice on that issue.

I understand you prefer binary arguments where saying one bad thing about someone automatically means the opponent has to be good on that topic, but the world doesn’t work like that.

Like, do you not grasp that international relations is a thing?

Do you not fathom that when an important ally, the most important in the Middle East, ramps up a conflict they’ve had with another nation for our entire lives, that it’s not exactly a simple subject? That you can’t just say “Welp, you’re being mean to someone else, so fuck you our relationship is over”?

Biden repeatedly spoke out against Netanyahu’s tactics. He started threatening to hold up arms shipments and impose sanctions. These are the proper steps to take before resorting to losing one of your most important allies.

Then Americans chose fascism and now the situation is much worse.

With Kamala there was a chance things would have changed. The dems were at least applying pressure to Israel to find a resolution. I have plenty of criticisms and am pissed we spent tax dollars arming Israel.

However, now our government is enthusiastically supporting the elimination of Gaza. So yeah that didn’t pan out

Sure, Israel was also a long time ally who suffered a brutal terrorist attack in October. Maybe geopolitics is more complex that “Biden is commiting a genocide!!1!”.

Before you get too out to touch, I’ll say that any aid to Israel should have been conditional, and we should have stationed Americans relief workers in refugee camps and safe zones to stop Israel from indiscriminately bombing them.

I refuse to choose genocide for self preservation.

Then you’ll get fascism at home. And did.

I kind of want to die just for my role as a passive participant in the genocide.

You sound like kind of a fool.

So by not wanting to be complicit in one genocide you allowed fascism to rise and now are unwilling complicit in more crimes against humanity.

Don’t be so modest, you’re excited for me to get murdered for being disobedient. That’s why you won’t lift a finger to resist fascism. Voting is the limit of your participation in politics and you aren’t going to be allowed to vote fascist away.

I’m not even american. And every time I can vote, I do against fascism. Because if I have to choose between a literal nazi and someone who’s imperfect but it’s not a nazi, I kinda prefer to be governed by the one that’s not a nazi.

And since we are talking about genocide: remember that the turd YOU helped putting in the white house is allowing the zionazi to run wild and even think of annexing Gaza (after “cleansing” it).

He personally ensured Israel had the bombs and international legal protection necessary to murder all those children. He did everything he could to guarantee those children died in twisted shieking agony. In fact, many of them did burn to death and he his personally responsible for cooking them alive.

Let me put it this way: I don’t feel like I deserve to live anymore for my role in the genocide.

Yes. Because our 2 options were a fascist, and a Liberal. Liberals may suck, but they can be worked with, and reasoned with. Fascists don’t have that perk.

Liberals are just fascists with better PR. They absolutely cannot be reasoned with, as evidenced by the democrats being exactly as complicit in the genocide as the republicans. No reasoning has managed to convince that party that Palestine deserves to exist.

Just admit what you really mean:

“The democrats may be just as genocidal outside of our country, but at least they’re not genociding inside our country like the republicans would”.

Or, put simply, “the democrats are evil in a way that doesn’t impact me”.

Weird. I remember Biden repeatedly expressing that he didn’t like Netanyahu’s tactics, then threatening to stop arms shipments and impose sanctions. I also remember Trump regularly fellating Netanyahu and saying he wants to kick Palestinians out to build a fucking resort.

                  Herp derp, both duh same.

Because Joe “nothing would fundamentally change” Biden was so progressive.

Hope none of your family died in the years before Trump like the hundreds of thousands of others who die each year from easily fixable causes but weren’t because they lived in status quo America.

Quick question, do you in any way shape or form hold the Democratic party responsible for their performance at the polls?

Are you stupid? His legislation was VERY progressive. Guy was even the first president IN HISTORY to forgive student loans and to stand on a picket line with striking workers.

do you in any way shape or form hold the Democratic party responsible for their performance at the polls?

Yes, but not even close to as responsible as I hold American voters for failing their civic duty.

How many billions of dollars in student loan debt did Biden cancel? How much more would have been cancelled if the supreme court didn’t act in a blatantly partisan manner?

Yeah, I do hold them responsible. Shumer shouldn’t be in leadership and AOC should be on every high profile committee there is.

Not voting solves nothing. You know how you get more progressive legislation passed? By voting for the party that has progressives in it. That’s how. More democrats means more people like AOC. It doesn’t fucking matter if your personal rep is a god damned blue dog if it means there’s one less republican in congress.

Is that really something you think anyone here will care about? whether you “have empathy” for them? You have a wildly overinflated ego buddy. Have empathy, dont have it-- it doesnt matter to anyone. But if you could be less tedious and noisy we’d all appreciate that. Why dont you try that angle? All of these things are better than a felon rapist traitor who is flagrantly disregarding the Constitution. Keep in mind that when you vote for a candidate, you aren’t just voting for them, you are voting for their party to have power as well.

then replacing him with someone who would have been completely blown out in a primary at the last minute

It’s literally what their constituents asked for. They kept complaining that Biden was too old and it would cost him the election. So they gave their constituents a younger candidate. There was not time for a primary.

But none of this matters. It was non-fascists vs fascists and it was pretty fucking obvious and Americans failed that open book test.

I really just wanna point out that this person didn’t say anything other than criticize the Democratic Party for ineffectually marketing their ideas. If you hire a marketing company to advertise your product and their campaign spectacularly fails even though your product is obviously much better for consumers than everything else, would you be mad at the consumers for not understanding how your technology works or would you be mad at the marketing company for doing a very bad job at convincing the public of your very obviously much better solution?

          This is politics.

It is every American’s civic duty to inform themselves responsibly and not rely on a political party to formulate their reality for them with TV ads.

Every American who did their civic duty and informed themselves responsibly voted for the party that wasn’t promising fascism.

Like do you see how this is kind of like refusing to be angry at a fire department that just stood in front of your house while it burned down because technically they weren’t the ones that started the fire and then getting angry at people who are getting angry at the fire department on your behalf because you’re wondering why they’re not angry at arsonists instead? Have you considered that like you can be angry at a lot of different people all at the same time for a lot of good reasons and that being angry at a corporation though isn’t going to change anything but being angry at the Democrats might change the Democrats, so long people don’t literally resist trying to improve the Democratic Party and make it more effective at convincing people to vote against fascism

convincing people to vote against fascism

If Americans have to be convinced to vote against fascism, then the majority of the fault lies on Americans, not the Democrat party.

The Democrat party absolutely could have run a better campaign, but you’re literally arguing that political parties have to convince Americans to vote against fascism. And you don’t think the majority of the fault lies with American voters?

What I think is that it’s extremely emotional and self-centered to be more interested in assigning blame than on figuring out where we can most effectively put pressure to actually make change happen.

I’m not telling you to not do that, and I think you should. It’s important. I just am trying to get you to realize that the person you’ve been responding to is not actually standing in your way at all, and in fact you seem to have at this point acknowledge what they’re saying, which is that the Democrats have constantly failed to successfully play the political game and all this person is saying is maybe we should demand more of them. But for some reason, even just saying that gets everyone to accuse you of a lot of horrible things even though literally all you want is for the people who are supposed to protect you to do a better job.
